BEYOND A TOTAL LOSS is a darkly humorous 2D actionadventure game with survival horror elements, in which a balding moustachioed dim-witted drunk called John Harry signs an unreadable contract in exchange for a gun.

Story

A man, who calls himself the warden, tricks John Harry into signing a contract that obliges him to complete seven ordeals – varying from mixing a cocktail to participating in a deadly game show. But what is the true goal of this mysterious "warden"? And is John Harry really as dense as he looks? How many cocktails can a man really drink in one day?

Features

Minimal HUD: know your health by the amount of blood on your face. // Explore, shoot monsters, talk to npc's, solve puzzles, shoot npc's and find keys. // Choices you make can have an effect on the lives of npc's. // Some of your choices also determine which of the three endings you get. // "Shaky aim": the guns keeps on moving while trying to aim. // Inventory management: limited (but expandalbe) space, move items around freely. // Mix cocktails - different cocktails have different effects. Some good, some not so good. // No bullets left? Try kicking.

Demo

The demo serves as a prologue to the main game. You play as a different character and consequently experience a story and dialogues that are unique to this demo: Randy is a bad-tempered car mechanic and part time bootlegger. He has a bad dream, there is someone in his bedroom and on top of that the store owner wants him to make more moonshine. What a day!
